Ultraman Geed is back. Just a few months after the giant hero series aired its final episode, we return for one last battle with Asakura Riku, the young son of the villainous Belial, as he fights to protect the world he now calls home from the rampage of alien monsters. And here to light a fire under his shiny, silver exterior is none other than Kurenai Gai, the harmonica-playing wanderer best known as the title hero of 2016’s Ultraman Orb. Let’s do this.

Now, as much as I try to get hyped on Geed again, I have to say that it made me laugh a bit to see him quickly reduced to a self-doubting kid again after the events of his own series, apparently leading to Gai stepping in to give him a pep talk about what must be done. Gai is kind of the bigger draw here, and he’s in fine form in this trailer, sporting the classic hat and jacket, ready to dish out more justice on the robot horde pummeling Riku’s planet.

Ozawa Yuta returns as put-upon salaryman Leito, who reunites with the hero who once shared his injured body, Ultraman Zero. This time, Zero brings along the whole crew from his own second featuring movie, Ultraman Zero The Movie: Super Deciding Fight! The Belial Galactic Empire. The giant heroes Jean-Bot, Jean-Nine, Glen Fire, and Mirror Knight make up Ultimate Force Zero, a veritable Avengers team of warriors inspired by classic characters from the vault at Ultra Series handlers Tsuburaya Productions.

The film also stars Hamada Tatsuomi as Riku / Ultraman Geed, Ishiguro Hideo as Gai / Ultraman Orb, and Aoyagi Takaiya as shifty antihero swordsman Jugglus Juggler. It’s penned by Orb series writer Nakano Takao and helmed by Geed series director Sakamoto Koichi.

Ultraman Geed: Unite the Wishes strikes Japanese theaters March 10, 2018.
