Power Rangers: Legacy Wars just got a Super Mega investment. The mobile game, based on the live-action television hero brand Power Rangers, sees characters both virtuous and villainous battle it out for supremacy across a grand canvas of recognizable environments upon which to wage their war of legacies. This week, the cinematic overlords who brought us the 2017 Power Rangers movie brought a bountiful gift to the game that ensures its continued success into the new year.

The Hollywood Reporter brings us the story, as Lionsgate presides over a deal between March Capital Partners and Ridge Ventures. The two firms teamed up with the gamesters at nWay, providing an investment deal to the sweet tune of $11 million. The game developer continues to expand upon the strength of Legacy Wars, which celebrates a whopping 26.5 million downloads since its launch in early 2017.

nWay CEO Taohoon Kim had this to say about the project:

As Power Rangers: Legacy Wars celebrates more than 26.5 million downloads across iOS and Android, we continue to gain invaluable knowledge on servicing and monetizing free-to-play synchronous multiplayer games, and are already benefiting from the experience and guidance of the partners joining us today.

Legacy Wars seems to be paying off for Power Rangers curators Saban Brands. Featuring characters not only from their extensive TV catalogue, but also from the Lionsgate film and even the Boom! Studios comic book series, it’s another feather in the cap for the Ranger brand.

As recently mentioned, the Power Ranger franchise has a lot of victories to celebrate, from the print medium to the mobile gaming arena. As for whether or not we’ll be able to add any creative success in the television category to the list of wins in the coming years… We’ll get back to you on that.

In the meantime, Power Rangers: Legacy Wars is here to make the wait a little more bearable. It’s available now for the iOS and Android.
