Power Rangers Dino Thunder fans have something new to sonic scream about as actress Emma Lahana, best known to Power Rangers nerds as the high school rocker chick turned Yellow Ranger Kira Ford, has just landed a role on the upcoming Marvel series Cloak & Dagger. Disney’s newly-branded cable television channel Freeform is set to launch this young adult-oriented superhero series based on the comic book of the same name.
The singer/actress took to Twitter herself to relay the news, though we have yet to learn whether or not she’ll be suiting up as another costumed heroine.
Couldn’t be more thrilled to be part of the @Marvel universe! I can’t give you guys the details of my character just yet 😉 but I hope you love her as much as I do.
Cloak & Dagger follows the story of two teens, Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph) who discover their unique abilities to channel the elements of light and darkness in startling ways.
They belong to the same Marvel Cinematic Universe as the likes of Iron Man, Captain America, and the Guardians of the Galaxy, though we won’t hold our breath waiting to see the two groups cross paths in the near future. For now, we can just look forward to the upcoming Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War on the big screen while television efforts such as Cloak & Dagger try their hand on the new Freeform, which has struggled of late to get a real hit.
Another Marvel series originally set to premiere on the channel, New Warriors, was mysteriously pulled from the line-up amid varying rumors. Some wondered if the show was rejected by the unproven TV station, while others suspected it was because test reactions to the show were actually so positive that Marvel eventually decided to give it a home where more eyeballs are sure to be on it. What that says about Cloak & Dagger, if true, we can’t tell.
The series is executive produced by Joe Pokaski of NBC’s Heroes along with Marvel’s small-screen swami Jeph Loeb. It also stars Andrea Roth, Gloria Reuben, Jaime Zevallos, Miles Mussenden, J.D. Evermore, and Carl Lundstedt.
A recent sneak peak basically shows you an entire scene from the first episode, featuring the show’s main leads.
That’s a thing!
However Lahana factors into the marvelous madness of this universe, her fans now have an extra incentive to check out Cloak & Dagger when it premieres with a two-hour event June 7, 2018 on Freeform.
