Ah, the classic “holder” toy. This has pretty much become a staple of the yearly Kamen Rider franchise, very few seasons skip it. In Kamen Rider Build‘s case, the draw is not the holder but the exclusive gimmick item it comes with. With the Full Bottle Holder you get 3 empty slots for 3 Full Bottles (too bad 8 are already out, making this thing obsolete already). It comes with the Soujiki Full Bottle, and currently this is the only way to get this toy. The overall set isn’t bad, sure it costs more than your average Full Bottle Set, but not by much so the price, this time around, won’t put off too many fans.
Next, our first Full Bottle set is here. Well actually it was released before the Driver, but that’s beside the point. The Gorilla and Diamond Full Bottles are pretty standard, if you like the other Full Bottles you’ll like these, they unlock their names in the driver and together you get one new sound effect, the GorillaMond henshin sound. As far as gimmicks go we’ve seen more elaborate ones such as Gashats from Kamen Rider Ex-Aid but these sets are super cheap so they’re highly affordable for the consumer and totally wallet friendly. I definitely recommend them.
Finally, with every new Rider comes his trusty side arm. Kamen Rider Gaim had the Musou Saber, Kamen Rider Wizard had his WizarSwordGun, Kamen Rider Ghost had the Gangun Saber and now Build has his Drill Crusher. While the concept of a giant Drill Saber that can also function as a gun sounds cool on paper and definitely looks cool in the show, it doesn’t translate well here to a toy. The toy itself is small, which is fine as most toku merchandise tends to be, but the sounds are less than exciting to say the least. The toy makes 2 sounds, one for Sword and Gun mode and one for each their finisher moves. Not only are the sounds limited but the gear that spins the drill is so loud and obnoxious that you can barely hear the 2 sounds this toy can make anyway. The biggest draw to this set is the Harinezumi Full Bottle, tho it hardly justifies the $40-$50 price point.
