Welcome back to Super Hero Synopses, where internal battles can be as fierce as external conflicts. This week’s episode of Kamen Rider Build sees the heroes engaging with their latest enemy, Kamen Rider Mad Rogue, while Takumi must battle with the ideals that gave Sento strength in order to reconcile the two. The internal conflict becomes much more literal in Kaito Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger as the conflict between global police and phantom thieves spills over into a tussle within Pat Kaiser’s head.
Was Mad Rogue brought in purely to be the first to fall at the hands of Build Genius? Are any more pieces of the Lupin Collection sentient? Where did Zamigo get his intelligence from? We’d love for you to share your thoughts with us in our forum or over on our Facebook page.
Kamen Rider Build, Episode 39
“The Unstoppable Genius”
Nariaki has become Kamen Rider Mad Rogue and immediately takes on Gentoku (Rogue). Gentoku is no match for him, but as Nariaki is about to deliver a killing blow Kazumi (Grease) arrives and rescues the remaining Riders. Back at cafe nascita Gentoku is patched up while the others discuss their next move. Ryuga (Cross-Z) has another flash of memory from Evolt’s arrival on Mars and excuses himself. Takumi still believes that Ryuga is part of Evolt and must be destroyed but focuses on completing his work on his newest Full Bottle. Kazumi catches up with Ryuga and the two spar.
Nariaki queries Evolt as to how there is another Evol Driver but is rebuffed. Him and Gentoku both reflect on the time Gentoku betrayed and shot him, and how the experience changed him forever. Meanwhile Takumi completes his work but is less impressed with Misora’s instance that he should have faith in his friends. As Ryuga and Kazumi recover, Kazumi tells Ryuga that he believes in him rather than Takumi’s assessment. Ryuga asks Kazumi to destroy him if Takumi is proven correct.
They are interrupted by an emergency call from Touto. Ryuga and Kazumi respond to face Seito’s invasion force. Gentoku also attempts to respond, imploring Takumi, Sawa and Misora to believe in him and let him go. Takumi goes in his place and proves more adept at fighting this time, quickly defeating numerous Hard Guardians before facing Nariaki. The two debate their former actions in the pursuit of science as they physically grapple, and when Takumi attempts to use the Genius Full Bottle nothing happens. Ryuga intervenes on his behalf but can do little but absorb Nariaki’s blows. He explains that the Bottle failed because Takumi lacks the motivation to protect others that drove Sento. As Ryuga and Gentoku’s words echo in his head, Takumi’s memories of his time as Sento return along with his motivation. The Bottle now responds and he transforms into Build Genius Form.
Is Ryuga turning back into Evolt? How long will Nariaki last before his seemingly inevitable betrayal by his new master? How does Genius Form stack up against previous final forms in your opinion? Please join us in our forum or in the comments below.
Kaito Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger, Episode 18
“The Collection’s Secret”
A quiet day is interrupted by a giant-sized familiar face, the Gangler Anidara, suddenly bursts out of the GSPO’s facilities. Pat Kaiser is quickly deployed to tackle him as Anidara discovers his piece of the Collection has the ability to make his missiles home in on his target. Realizing that Anidara still has his treasure, Good Striker ejects the Patrangers and joins up with the phantom thieves instead, but by the time they are ready for battle Anidara has disappeared into thin air.
Back in the Ganglers’ dimension, Anidara discovers that he was revived at Destra’s insistence after Zamigo reported that the remains of his safe were being analyzed by the police. Anidara’s new Collection Piece is also courtesy of the Gangler general, who is using him in an experiment. Destra theorizes that the Lupin Collection originally came from their dimension and some of it has been converted for humans to use. Anidara returns to the human world to challenge the Patrangers, who realize they must get Good Striker back from the Lupinrangers in order to duel him.
Kairi (Lupin Red) is butting heads with Good Striker over his lackadaisical attitude, prompting him to fly away. Kogure arrives to relate Good Striker’s origins and his pact with Arsène Lupin to protect the rest of the Collection and Kairi leaves to search for him. Touma (Lupin Blue) and Umika (Lupin Yellow) also leave but spot a news report concerning the Patranger’s upcoming duel. Kairi catches up with Good Striker and the two reconcile.
The Lupinrangers arrive at the location of the duel, only to discover that the Patrangers have laid a trap to recover Good Striker. They force him to transform but Kairi interferes and manages to dock his Dial Fighter in place of Keiichiro’s (Patren #1) Trigger Machine. Pat Kaiser struggles to fight as an equally fierce battle rages in his cockpit, but Kairi manages to use the Blade Fighter to open Anidara’s safe. Touma and Umika zip-line up to the safe and recover the treasure, and Good Striker ejects the police so that Lupin Kaiser can snatch victory.
Will we ever get to properly meet the mysterious Arsène Lupin? Would you like to see more inter-team mech combinations? What was the real purpose of Destra’s experiment? Come and join the conversation on our Facebook page or in the comments below.
