There are benefits and disadvantages to the peg system. One, it’s not as scary to swap out hands with the pegs as it can sometimes be with the ball joints. But, if they aren’t tight enough, they can easily come out if you put an accessory that’s really heavy in the figure’s hands.

Conversely, while the current S.H.Figuarts system of ball joints in the wrist is scary to swap out at times, it does have the advantage of not allowing the hands to fall off when heavy accessories are held. Allowing for a great number of poses, even when the ball joint is loose a bit to make swapping hands less frightening.

I just hope that Bandai knows what they’re doing, as I have a Figma, and I can confirm the stories of pegs slipping out from the weight of accessories. There’s nothing but friction holding them in, and with enough abuse after a time, the friction goes away… Granted, you can fix it, but really, do you want to fix a figure after it wears out from doing what you’re supposed to do to it? Not to mention the known fix will only work for a time before it wears out again…

If the Figuarts are toys you want to leave on display most of the time now, wait’ll this comes out. Not to say this is a bad thing, but I’m the kind of guy who likes to mess around with my toys every now and then. I can’t touch my one Figma much and swap it’s hands out without worrying I’m going to make the pegs even looser, which means, when this thing comes out, you’ll want to handle it as much as a Figma, or even less than. Which, for those who only touch their figures to dust them off and never change their poses, is fine. But guys like me will be driven crazy by it for sure. To say the least, this is going to be polarizing if it isn’t already…

I hope S.H.Figuarts Kamen Rider Decade will have renewal version. Especially, his Decadriver and make it open and close
