During a Live Doctor Who special that aired on both BBC One and BBC America, Doctor Who fans around the world got a chance to see the Doctor who will replace Matt Smith as the 12th Doctor.
And the name that you have been waiting for, the next person to portray The Doctor will be Scottish actor and director Peter Capaldi.  During the next Christmas special, Matt Smith will end his tenure as the 11th Doctor and Peter Capaldi will replace him as the 12th.
Matt Smith has been as one of the most popular Doctors in the series and it was during his run that franchise blew up around the globe. Many are sad to see him leave as he is “their Doctor”, but a sense of curiosity and wonder always surrounds the debut of a brand new Doctor. Check him out this Christmas as he takes off in the TARDIS!
