The following synopses cover the previous week in this wacky world of tokusatsu we know and love as we gather our powers for this week’s round of battles. Thanks for you patience!

Welcome back to Super Hero Synopses, where it’s time to welcome a new hero. Yes, this week Kaito Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger introduces to a new ranger who attempts to straddle the divide between both teams. Meanwhile, Kamen Rider Build looks back to reveal some story seeds it planted long ago and finally bring them into play, while building on the mysteries of Sento’s dad.

What do you think of the latest ranger? Where did you think his introduction stands compared to other “sixth ranger” introductory episodes? What did you think of Build’s explanation for the Best Match combinations? Come and join us on our Facebook page or in the comments below!

Kamen Rider Build, Episode 41
“The Truth Behind Best Matches”

It’s time for Evolt to fight Build Genius, and it quickly becomes clear that Evolt’s Level 1 Cobra form isn’t a match for the “mere” human. Sento (Build) has the nous to realise that he has to prevent Evolt changing into his own ultimate form and lands a blow capable of cancelling Evolt’s transformation, to which he reacts with a strange mix of wonder and glee. Back at cafe nascita the protagonists wonder why Sento’s father has faked his own death and Sawa gives Sento a USB drive the smuggler was asked to pass along to them. The group review all their earlier battles and spot the common thread that all the victims who became Smash were connected to them in some way except the very first one.

While Sawa looks into the the first victim, Sento and Misora visit Isurugi in the hospital. Sento reveals that the data on the USB showed that Evolt used Isurugi to choose the theme of the bottles. He wanted 30 things Isurugi loved and 30 things that could destroy them, but in the second case Isurugi started naming nonsense items. Meanwhile Evolt is at his new lab where he tells Sento’s father that the earlier attack has caused him to start experiencing genuine human emotions for the first time.

Sawa has arranged for Sento to meet up with the first victim, who is one of his father’s former students. When they meet the student changes into a Lost Smash to fight him. When Sento inevitably wins Evolt kills the student before he can leak too much information. The pair fight again with Evolt in his ultimate form. Evolt tries to use a Lost Bottle to make Sento lose control but Genius form protects him and he’s able to drive Evolt back. However, Evolt’s new-found emotions allow him to get angry which raises his Hazard Level and allow him to fight off Sento and escape.

Was it wise to have the series big bad losing fights with so many episodes left? Why do you think Sento’s dad faked his death? Seriously, what’s the deal with Gentoku’s comedy outfits? Somebody please come and explain this to me in our forum or on our Facebook page.

Kaito Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger, Episode 20
“The New Thief Is An Officer”

A Gangler called Zaldan is holding a girl hostage. When her father arrives with the ransom money, the exchange is interrupted when a train unexpectedly arrives. Lupin X steps out of the train and attacks the Ganglers, emptying on of Zaldan’s two safes before reuniting the girl with her father. The next day Kairi (Lupin Red) encounters Keiichiro (Patren #1) reading a newspaper on his usual bench. The detective leaves and a young man attracts Kairi’s attention. He claims to be Lupin X and shows off some gymnastics before revealing that he also stole the onlookers’ phones. As he returns their items Keiichiro drags the man off in handcuffs. The young man leaves a note attached to Kairi’s phone that makes it clear that he knows who the phantom thieves are.

The Patrangers attempt to interview the man, who introduces himself as Takao Noel. They are quickly interrupted by Hilltop, who explains that Noel is a Global Police officer who has transferred over from their French headquarters. Noel explains that he was the one who adapted Collection pieces into the gear the Patrangers use, but the conversation is interrupted by an emergency alert. The Patrangers deploy along with Noel, to the confusion of the Lupinrangers who had arrived to break him out of police custody.

The Patrangers encounter Zaldan and Noel transforms into Patren X to fight him. The other officers and the Lupinrangers quickly join the battle. The thieves discover that Zaldan’s safe is empty but Noel informs them about his second one and insists that their identities are safe before transforming into Lupin X. Zaldan uses the power of his remaining Collection Piece but cannot stop Noel from stealing his treasure and destroying him. When Gauche arrives to make Zaldan grow, Noel identifies her as a ‘Status Gold’ Gangler before summoning his X-Train to the scene. The Lupinrangers summon their Dial Fighters and the Good Striker appears, who is already friendly with Noel. Noel loans the Lupinrangers two new VS Vehicles to help them destroy Zaldan before heading to the bistro to await their return.

Do you prefer the suit for Lupin X or Patren X? How does Noel already know the Good Striker? Do you like his train theme or did you think it lacked IMAGINATION?! Come and tell me how bad my jokes are in the comments below or in our forum.
