Showa vs. Heisei: Let the Fans Decide!

Showa or Heisei: who would win? Why let the company decide when the fans can! Who are you going to vote for??

We have just received news that the movie “Heisei Rider vs. Showa Rider: Kamen Rider Taisen feat. Super Sentai” (coming out March 29th) has had two endings fully filmed. Also, the ending that will be screened will be decided by an unprecedented fan vote, an absolute first for the “Kamen Rider” series. As for the result, we’ll know on the first day it screens.

Shirakura Shinichirou, the producer, explained: “Many “VS” works have been made up until now, but none of them have a proper conclusion. This time, we were very serious about the “win-or-lose” thing, and filmed two whole endings. Then, we have asked fans to choose this “conclusion”.”

The fifteen Heisei Riders consist of the Riders from “Kamen Rider Kuuga” up through “Kamen Rider Gaim”. And on the other side, the starting point of the series, those who fans continue to love: the 15 Showa Riders, from “Kamen Rider Ichigo” through “Kamen Rider J”. The Showa Riders, who burdened themselves with fighting the organizations of evil, and the Heisei Riders, who fight in respect to their own personal purposes – gathering this many people together who have made this current era, their ideas of justice will clash.

Producer Shirakawa: “They’re all Kamen Riders, but they fight because they have different viewpoints. The Heisei riders have a wealth of different evolved ways of fighting, so at first we were looking at a complete Heisei victory, but when we confirmed Fujioka Hiroshi-san’s appearance, that changed. We thought that if he appeared and transformed, the Heisei wouldn’t have a way to win.” So, look forward to the climax battle.

Other than Fujioka, Hayami Ryou is also appearing again for the first time. Shirakura says that with lots of past actors appearing, this work is “different than anime, where the actors can’t just be the same many years later, but on the other hand that makes it good” and calls that its appeal.

So, will the winners be the Heisei Riders or the Showa Riders? Online votes will be accepted until 8PM on the 9th on the movie’s home page. At the end of February, all theaters planning to screen the movie will begin collecting votes in ballot boxes. The polls will close on March 28th.
