E-girls (from EXILE TRIBE) are going to perform the theme song of the GTO’s 2nd Season featuring AKIRA (from EXILE) playing the leading role of Eikichi Onizuka / Great Teacher Onizuka.
In season 1 of Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO), EXILE TRIBE’s debut single “24karats TRIBE OF GOLD” was used as the theme song of the drama, all three Special Episodes and in GTO TAIWAN. This theme was performed by EXILE & Sandaime J Soul Brothers. For the second season, the theme song will be performed by E-girls, who are also part of EXILE TRIBE.
The New Theme Song for GTO is titled “Highschool ♡ love”. The single will be released on September 10. They will be releasing three singles over the next three months, with “Highschool ♡ love” being released last. AKIRA commented to the E-girls, students, teenagers and audience of GTO that this time the series will have the feel of high school with this song.
E-girls’ leader Aya (Dream) commented that all the members of E-girls were very pleased after hearing this news. GTO is one of the hottest dramas in Japan, and is packed with messages that resonate in them. As youths, this drama hits close to their hearts. As they sing the theme song of this drama, she felt it’s their responsibility to make this a song about youth. They went into the recording with this in mind.
