Amazon, ahead of an official announcement from Shout! Factory who recently brought us the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers DVD set, have listed the classic Ultra Seven!
The DVD itself is not listed as being the original uncut Japanese version with subtitles or the TNT English dubbed version from 1994. The set will be 6 DVDs, containing 1140 minutes of the show, and is listed as due for release 11th December at $49.97.
We’re currently waiting on more information from Shout! Factory.
[Update]
The respected Ultraman & tokusatsu expert August Ragone confirmed on his blog that the set will only have Japanese audio and will be missing the notorious episode 12, featuring radiation sickness aliens. He also explained how he helped work on the set:
- “This box set will include a 24-page booklet on the making of ULTRA SEVEN, penned by Yours Truly (I also provided the package copy as well), and another special premium, but we’ll save that as a surprise for later…”

Awesome that it’s coming out to the west. It’s great that august is helping with the set, a very knowledgeable ultra and kaiju, toku veteran. All that is left is to release ultra q, and then Eiji Tsuburaya’s original 60’s ultra trilogy is completed

Thanks for the quote and the link! BTW, the official announcement was the Amazon listing — I was told to wait to publish my blog entry until the listing went live on the retail site. I hope everyone enjoys this release!
