20th Century Fox and Robert Rodriguez bring the classic anime and manga title to life in Alita: Battle Angel. The sci-fi tale about an android with killer moves adapts Kishiro Yukito’s original Battle Angel Alita, with the use of motion capture CG enhancement for a unique aesthetic in this dystopian actioner.

James Cameron (The Terminator, Avatar) was originally set to helm this project as his personal robotic baby, but when other properties called him away, Rodriguez (Planet Terror, Sin City) stepped up to the plate.

From a script by Laeta Kalogridis of Shutter Island, the film stars Rosa Salazar (Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, Insurgent), Christoph Waltz (Inglorious Basterds, Spectre), Mahershala Ali (Moonlight, Luke Cage), Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen, A Nightmare on Elm Street), Ed Skrein (Deadpool, Game of Thrones), Keean Johnson (Nashville, Spooksville), and more.

Alita: Battle Angel is in theaters December 21, 2018.
