Gridman: The Hyper Agent is back in more ways than one. Tsuburaya Productions’ digital monster-fighting superhero was announced to get his own time slot on American television, then an even bigger surprise was sprung on us- SSSS.GRIDMAN, the new anime reimagining of the original Gridman was coming in the fall of 2018. Now, an official promotional video has dropped for the Hyper Agent Blu-ray, now presenting as a prelude to the upcoming animated take.

Gridman served as the source material for the US adaptation, Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad, in which a group of high school kids faced Mega-Virus monsters in a digital battlefield to protect the world from electronic peril. If you were a youngling in the early 90s, you might find one or two nostalgic moments in this brief reminder. Particularly that iconic beam attack.

Gridman: The Hyper Agent Blu-ray Box goes on sale December 20, 2017 and is priced at 32900 yen ($293.02 USD).
