In the final days before Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters stomps onto Japanese screens this week, here are a couple promos featuring a blend of footage both fresh and familiar to those who have been paying attention to the trailers. Marking the atomic lizard’s first major 3D animated feature, Planet of the Monsters is the first of a planned trilogy in this format, the results of which we’ll be watching with great interest.

I may never tire of watching Godzilla charge up for a nuclear blast. The energy surging up his spine, crackling throughout his body until at last releasing is a sight to behold in any entertainment medium, when done correctly. We await the film’s international Netflix release with baited (atomic) breath.

In the meantime, Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters hits Japanese theaters November 17, 2017.
