Based upon the stoic, sometimes antiheroic warrior Kamen Rider Zangetsu from the Kamen Rider Gaim television series, this glorious armor answers a long-held question for many fans. What happens when Takatora, the suave, enigmatic man behind the mask, activates his initial Melon Lockseed alongside his later Melon Energy Lockseed within the Genesis Driver transformation device? The result is this brand new interpretation, never seen in any medium. Until now.

While actor Kubota Yuki took a break from playing Takatora to whip the Kyurangers‘ butts time and again, either as a shining hero or as a relentless villain, he can’t stay off our minds recently, can he?

To be honest, I always preferred the subtle simplicity of the original Zangetsu. The secondary form acquired with the Genesis Driver was cool, but I still favored his appearance during his first few episodes, a power soon made obsolete after some dramatic story developments. This new release offers a sort of hybrid form that bridges the two. And I’d love to see it featured in a new movie, though I won’t hold my breath waiting for that one. For now, we can smile and look at the pretty pictures.
