Kamen Rider Black RX was a bit of an anomaly in the tokusatsu television landscape. After the success of the previous year’s Kamen Rider Black, Toei Company decided that it would break with tradition on their long-running franchise and forego the usual process of creating a brand new series with a new lead hero at its center as usual. Instead, they created a sequel of sorts, bringing Minami Kotaro back into the fray once more. Results were… let’s say mixed. But there’s no doubting this costumed figure’s indelible part of toku history. Not only was RX the last of the Showa Era’s television series, but footage was later used for Power Rangers creator Saban’s Masked Rider series. And results were mixed all over again!

Years later, this infamous series gets a theme song cover from recording artist Ricardo Cruz. His tunes may prove familiar to Henshin Justice Unlimited readers, as we featured him once before, for his Space Sheriff-inspired music video short, On The Rocks. Now, he dips his toes back into Kamen Rider‘s waters with this follow-up’s classic rocker.
