Kamen Rider Build‘s 8th SODO toy line entry comes with a little surprise. First off, as expected, we have RabbitRabbit and TankTank forms. These are great figures and use the same gimmick we’ve seen throughout the Build line. Even though it’s not show-accurate, you can create a “Super” RabbitTank form, if you will. Articulation, detail, and stickers are all standard and these guys just look fantastic on the shelf.
The twist, however, is that this time around, we get 2 new figures from Kamen Rider Ex-Aid‘s Another Ending movies. These figures are Kamen Rider Genmu Level Billion and Kamen Rider Lazer Level X. For me, these are brand new figures, but for those of you who were into SODO during Ex-Aid’s run, you’ll recognize these as repaints/re-stickered versions of Ex-Aid Level 99 and Lazer Level 3. Genmu is fantastic, with a fun to pose, bulky frame and great articulation. It does have slightly more stickers than Build SODO fans are probably used to but nothing unreasonable. Lazer, on the other hand, isn’t so great. The amount of stickering is ridiculous and the figure doesn’t hold together well at all. This is due to the figure being based on an old form that also needed to transform into a motorcycle. Overall, he’s a lot of work for a mediocre figure at best, but the saving grace of this set is the price. Despite my complaints about Lazer, he is the 4th figure in a line that usually releases 3 per wave. The set doesn’t cost any more than usual so essentially Lazer is like a free bonus figure. All in all, this wave is worth the pick up for Build and Ex-aid fans alike.
