Giant bugs with laser-antennae. Bloodthirsty fiends from the depths of outer space. Titanic robots of unparalleled strength. Godzilla has been victorious in battle with dozens of seemingly unbeatable adversaries. But perhaps none as fierce as the latest threat standing before him. The menace of a broken heart.
In this stop-motion comedy piece from Youtube channel MootroidXProductions, the radioactive lizard serves up his scorching heart for the object of his affection and a series of misunderstandings may lead to devastating consequences. His first romantic troubles were featured in a video a few years ago, only for the battle to rage on yet again this year, as we approach another Singles Awareness Day.
Here’s the original 2016 video, followed by its 2018 reboot. Because it’s not just Shin Godzilla who gets to reinvent himself – the whole fan community must as well.
Both videos, of course, also star the likes of Samus Aran, known more commonly as the lead heroine in the Nintendo video game series Metroid, and space pirate Captain Marvelous aka GokaiRed from the live-action special effects series Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. They’re joined by a host of other background characters, including heroes from the Kamen Rider Amazons tokusatsu series and the Bio-Booster Armor Guyver manga and anime series, among others.
They’re brought to life with the help of charming stop-motion animation, with the highly poseable Figma, S.H. Figuarts, and S.H. MonsterArts toy lines for their respective series.
When in doubt this February 14, just think: What would Zilla do?
