Well, if there is one thing to complain about with the Kamen Rider Build series so far, it’s the toys. More specifically, the role play weapons (and the gimmick line, but we’ve been over that already). The Drill Crusher was underwhelming but it did come with a Full Bottle making it feel like a decent purchase. Then the Hawkgatlinger abandoned the Full Bottle gimmick and while it wasn’t offensively bad it was far from a “must own” toy. Now we have the 4 Koma Ninpoutou aka the Ninja Art-Invoking Four-frame Ninja Sword and its name is the longest thing about it.

The sword itself I think is a cool concept, combining a pen and a sword making a pretty sweet weapon in the show, but as a toy it ends up being more pen than sword. If I haven’t made my point clear enough yet, this thing is tiny, thin and light. It feels very cheap and not what I was expecting from a DX toy. Sound-wise the toy is fine, it can make all the noises for the 4 jutsu Build can use (albeit in a slightly convoluted way) but it has no slashing or melee sounds. This is odd to me as it is a sword first and foremost. All in all the 4 Koma Ninpoutou isn’t offensively bad, but it continues the trend of lackluster weapons in Build’s DX toy line. I wonder if something can break this rough streak? Maybe two somethings? And maybe they can combine? I don’t know, wishful thinking I guess….
