Veteran Super Sentai Narrator Tooru Oohira Passes Away

In was reported that veteran voice actor Tooru Oohira passed away last April 12 at the age of 86.

He is best known to most hardcore tokusatsu fans as the narrator of various tokusatsu shows. The man narrated the Super Sentai franchise from Himitsu Sentai Goranger to Dai Sentai Goggle V, and returned for Kyouryuu Sentai Zyuranger; narrated Space Sheriff Shaider, Kyojuu Tokusou Juspion, Jikuu Senshi Spielvan, The Mobile Cop Jiban, the Japanese Spider-Man TV series, Ambassador Magma, and Spectreman. Aside from being the narrator of tokusatsu shows, he also played the role of Choriki Sentai Ohranger’s Emperor Bacchushund, Ambassador Magma’s Goa, and Spectreman’s Chief Kurata.

Outside of tokusatsu, he is the official Japanese voice actor of two fictional American icons, Darth Vader and Homer Simpson. He’s also the voice of Disney’s Pete, and for anime fans, he is best known as Gatchaman’s Doctor Kozaburo Nambu and Osomatsu-kun’s Dekaban.
