After crunchyroll started showing Max, Mebius and Leo it should be no surprise that another Ultra show has joined the list, Ultraman 80.

 

Taking place a few years after Ultraman Leo, it first aired on April 2, 1980. It feature school science teacher Takeshi Yamato as the lead character. Much like Ultraseven and Ultraman Mebius Yamato is 80 in disguise and not a human host. Aside from being a teacher he also moonlights as a member of the Utility Government Members or the UGM. There’s also a thing in the series that if anybody discovers who Yamato really is he feels he must leave Earth. The series is unique in that the lead has to lead a triple life, school tracher, UGM member and Ultraman, and try to balance it. Although the school aspect, and a potential love interest, gets dropped after a while. Later the series debuts a female Ultra in Yullian, ts a female Ultra in Yullian,

although she’s not called Ultrawoman, who was a childhood friend of 80.

 

Like the previous Ultra series on crunchyroll.com only the first 10 episodes are free with the rest viewable with the paid service. But like with the others more episodes will be made available for the free section in tiers about once a week.

 

With four Ultra shows now avavilable will there be more down the road. Will they release more classic Ultras like Jack or Ace (depending on the whole Chaiyo thing of course) or will they go back with the later Keisei era series like Tiga, Dyna or Gaia. Or will they add the Ultra Galaxy shows to the lineup. Only time will tell.
