Along with the upcoming anime Digimon is also getting a new video game with an all new story line to help celebrate their 15th anniversary and we got the news. So as always hit that link to initiate your Digivolution!
Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth is a role-playing game in which the player travels between the real world and the Digital World to solve mysteries occurring in both worlds. Character designs are drawn by Suzuhito Yasuda, best known for his work on Durarara!! and the Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor series. The game is a PS Vita exclusive and slated for release in Japan sometime in 2015.
Your main character in the series can either be male or female as seen above.
The protagonist always had an interest in hacking. One day, they acquired strange device to capture Digimon(evolved comupter viruses in this rendition), the Digi-Capture, and decides to login and check out the rumors surrounding the mysterious bottom floor of Cyberspace. However, due to an accident, part their data gets damaged, and turns them into a human with hybrid digital body, and are thrown back into the real world.
Along the way they meet other people with Digi captures and people looking into the bottom floor mystery.
Nokia Shiramine
A young girl who makes a deep bond with the Digimon she meets. Her motto is “Be the change you want to be.” And while she seems like she’s down, she’s actually quite positive. While she does puts on a tough front, she is actually easily scared. Even though she’s afraid of the ‘ghost boy’ rumored in cyberspace lately, her interest in Digimon takes her to the Bottom floor of cyber space.
Arata Sanada
A former big name in the hacker community and is some one often looked up too as well. Like Nokia, Arata is a young man the protagonist meets during the game. He has a rather carefree behavior and often speaks in riddles. He often looks after the protagonist like an elder brother. Despite his time as a hacker in the past, he doesn’t speak much about it. Who knows what secrets he is actually hiding.
Digimon Capture
In Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, players can travel with a number of Digimon alongside them(So far 3 as shown in the video below). You’ll be able to collect various Digimon and aim to become to strongest hacker.
As you explore dungeons in the game, you’ll encounter other Digimon to battle, either wandering about on their own or controlled by enemy hackers. When a battle starts, the Digimon Capture device automatically begins by scanning and collecting the data of the enemy Digimon. You can scan a lot of data from weak Digimon all at once, but stronger Digimon need to be encountered multiple times to gather all their data. Once you’ve gathered 100 percent of a Digimon’s data, you can then turn the Digimon into an ally. Training your Digimon will digivolve them into stronger Digimon, such as Gabumon to Garurumon. Digivolution is based on its level and ability scores giving multiple possible digivolution paths for one digimon.
There is also a current online petition to get both Cyber Sleuth and the 3ds game Digimon World RE: Digitize Decode brought over to the US and EU markets, the petition also currently has the attention of Namco Bandai Europes Community Manager, Isshak Gravi. Gravi was quoted saying, “just remember this is not automatic, this is NOT “confirmed”. But >50k is a good way to START a discussion.”Gravi emphasized localizing a Digimon game outside Japan would be financially tough to justify due to the franchise’s decline in the West. “That’s your best bet fans, to try and START a discussion. Digimon isn’t what it used to be&a 3DS/Vita JRPG is not the easiest to bring over.” The petition can be found and signed here.
The game is supposed be released in some time in 2015 exclusively for the PS vita.
The official site can be found here: Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth
The game is currently on announced status but can be pre-ordered soon at Play-Asia.com
