Team Unicorn Pilot Confirmed in Filming

Deadline reports that an Adult Swim pilot based on the popular “Team Unicorn” group of video creators on Youtube is filming now. With some serious star power attached, hit the jump for more details!

“Creating a new standard of AWESOME!”

Representing the idea that “like Unicorns, geek girls were not supposed to exist”, Team Unicorn is a multi-media production team formed in Los Angeles, California. Its original members are Michele Boyd, Clare Grant, Milynn Sarley and Rileah Vanderbilt. During Comic-Con 2010, their love of all things geek was cemented in a massive Sailor Moon cosplay extravaganza, birthing Team Unicorn. Since then, it’s been an out pour of nerd creativity from the girls, starting with the parody video “Geek & Gamer Girls” which garnered a million hits in its first week & started the online controversy over whether girls can be geeky & sexy!

Deadline reports a pilot for a combination Live Action/Animated show is in the works, written by Dan Milano (Greg The Bunny), which follows the adventures of 4 magical heroines, who pose as human girls. Executive Producers from Danger Maiden Productions, Clare Grant and Rileah Vanderbilt, star alongside original Team Unicorn member Milynn Sarley (How I Met Your Mother) and Alison Haislip (Attack Of The Show) as both Team Unicorn as well as their cartoon versions.

Jane Lynch (Glee, Hollywood Game Night) provides the voice for villain Dark Puba; Alan Tudyk (Firefly) voices her sidekick, Chummy Cherub; Tara Strong (My Little Pony) voices Billy, a boy who can summon Team Unicorn; and Kevin Shinick (Mad) is the show’s announcer. Robot Chicken creators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich are Executive Producers, from Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, and Green will direct the pilot.

Team Unicorn gained notoriety in their viral video hits, starting in 2010 with “G33k & G4M3R Girls” and has continued working in the Nerd and Geek Community on several projects. Check out their first Viral hit below!
