Here Comes Power Rangers: Dino Charge!

Eariler today USA TODAY just released a massive bombshell by announcing the newest season of the Power Rangers before Super Megaforce even drops. But just what is Power Rangers Dino Charge and when does it set to land here in America?  Luckily we have those answers for all to see.

In a surprise announcement from USA Today  Saban Entertain will be forgoing  a Go-Buster adaptation for the highly successful Kyoryuger franchise in the form of the 22nd season of Power Rangers in the form of Dino Charge. This move will return franchise to it’s roots of dinosaur themed Power Rangers seen in the original Mighty Morphin and 2004’s Dino Thunder series.

Kyoryuger was very successful in Japan bringing a massive 14 Billion Yen profit from toy sales alone. Naturally Saban Entertain will look continue the strong success overseas with the 2015 launch of Dino Charge. Saban Brand’s President Elie Dekel was quoted saying, “we know fans will find this next season larger than life.”

The premise of the series is as follows: In Dino Charge, the Paragon Prisms were given to a dozen dinosaurs for safe keeping by an alien, but they were lost when asteroids hit the Earth and wiped out the dinos. Now in the present day, an intergalactic bounty hunter starts sniffing around Earth looking for the Prisms in order to harness their power and annihilate the world, so a team of Power Rangers forms to find the Prisms first and fight the bounty hunter and other threats with dino-powered and themed weapons, Zords, and Megazords.

The series is set to debut at some point at 2015, however you can watch the latest series Super Mega Force which is set to debut the 15th of this month on Nickelodeon .

    • hopefully they are just skipping it for now to same for after the dino sentai. Cause i doubt they would want to touch the upcoming train season any time soon. So they can hold off the train one for like 4 more years if dino charge is 2 seasons like it has been and if we get go-busters adaption for 2 years.

      • i have an idea. how about go-busters have a power ranger counterpart that will be evil to the dino charge rangers.

        • i dont see the need in making the go-busters evil rangers. Personally there is nothing in go-busters which i just finished watching all the episodes couldnt be adapted to Pr season. We got solid ranger fight footage, zord fight footage. And easy enough plot of computer hacking/computers taking over plot. And if we where to have a two season format for a go-busters season i could see the first 20 episodes being the rise of messiah and defeat and stag/beet rangers coming in. Then the second season could be power costum, and the 13 messiah card plotline. The only thing they would need to do is probably reshoot scenes that had enter/escape pre power up modes to US actors which wouldnt be that hard.

          • Man i say it again. go busters can be a power rangers series. I wish they start to do rpm returns. Thats was my favorite season, since mystic force. If you watch the end of rpm. venjix, didnt die. he was crushed by the falling building, which dillion was saving his sister. And we need a connection from missing ending of power rangers series. If i had the money, i would hire some good writings, and have a new team to form a rpm 2.

I just wish someone would think about that. and go busters would fit right in, since its animals form.

  • well the concept and name sound interesting. But i thought there was a rule inforced i recall seeing on rangerboard/and this site's forums before that saban cant skip over sentai seasons. Which is why we had samurai for sentai samurai season, and megaforce for gosei and gokaiger. I wonder if they will hold off go-busters adaption to after the dino season(s).

Personally go-busters isnt that hard to adapt with the computer/virus theme. First season can be rise and fall of messiah(or what ever his us name would be). The second season can be power up/13 card plot from last half of go-busters. I do hope we can see a go-busters adaption down the road.

    • I'd really like to see that "rule" quoted from someone who actually works for Saban or some such. 'cuz so far, I have not seen any source for this claim ever.

        • ya i know we never officially heard it from saban or others within saban brands but its sorta has been the unspoken rule and like others have said reason why gosei was used instead of skipping it and going straight to gokaiger.

  • Goes to show how pathetic New Saban Era is and it's sad....really sad. Is it because Go-Buster is a challenge to adapt? Like come on..who doesn't like a good challenge once in a while. Plus Go-Buster is an easy sentai to adapt because they practically handed out PR references for Saban to milk. Although I hated Go-Buster it pains me not to see it coming to the USA in the form of PR. It's times like this that you wish Disney was still in control of the franchise because New Saban is the worst!!!

    • i personally dont see go-busters as a hard concept/series to adapt. Hell we had a straight up japanese samurai series adapted, we skipped the gods/angel plot of gosei. And going back to past series we diverged alot in turbo, space, galaxy, zeo. and others. So there is no logical reasons why any series cant be used. So hopefully we will find out in the coming months why go-busters is getting skipped, and if go-busters adaption will happen later or not.

But like others have said we can see from toei/bandai front viewers and toy sales where very low for go-busters. Vs from what i seen online that the dino series had good viewership and toy sales. Plus the only thing is look just like in 93 when mmpr started we had jurassic park, and in 2014 we have jurassic park 4 coming out. So maybe saban/bandai saw a win win draw there.

    • Yeah i agree, i love go buster suits, Its like a mix of jungle fury, with rpm and spd in it. I love a changes, and power rangers do need a major change. I just wish their was someone out their, smarter then saban, I miss the old saban. Power rangers shows back then was great. power rangers need to redeem itself, for real. because if they dont. it will lose it power. and the show want make it, because the old fans, will give up. samurai, mega force was bad. like it was put thrown in, and rushed.

  • There are two things that are the reasons for skipping go-buster.
    1) This is a shot in the dark but the original Power Rangers dino theme was helped by Jurassic Park, this series is set to debut around the same time as Jurassic World. So it could by trying to carry off the hype wave.
2)Go-Buster was a financial disaster for Toei, so bad that it had to be retooled mid season. On top of that toy sales were 9 billion yen, while Kyoryuger is super popular over there and brought in 14 close to 15 billion yen in toy sales.

I'm pretty sure 2 is more accurate than 1. But those are my personal feelings as to why we get Kyoryuger over go-buster.

      • As some one who also lived back then, while i realize it was not a direct influence on them. However it was much easier to sell a dinosaur themed tv series especially with dinosaur robots as toys, while dinosaur fever was at it's highest during that time. And a very large amount of that was helped out that Jurassic park's barrage of dinosaur toys and advertising was everywhere keeping the thunder lizards on radar. Yes, power rangers came into own and became a mega hit all on its own, but it got it's push with a little help.

  • where is the thing that says Saban isn't supposed to skip a season? is Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters so bad that Toei won't let Saban adapt it?

    • closest thing I could find is this quote from the 2012 Liscening Expo. its been speculated before this quote was made so there may be some truth to it.

"Most of our discussion is off-the-record. They are unable to skip a season, which makes sense because Goseiger comes before Gokaiger."

It's possible Toei could have made a concession Bandai may have had some say as well. Go-busters toys sold horribly in Japan unlike kyoryuger. Rating wereabout the same though with Kyoryuger getting a slight edge.

      • I like the go buster series, its alot who like it. so thats on you, if you didnt like it. I type that like changes, and the suits was amazing. But people in america , not all. so i not passing judgement, but where the original at. is everyone following everyone else. i not getting why go busters seems like a bad series. If the right person,, take it time, and not rush it like samurai and megforce. then we can get somewhere with this. I just think. saban returning was not good. I love the old saban. We need it back. Super megaforce is good so far, but hoping dino charge bring it back. i hope they want rush this. But 20 episodes. They really need to stop that. is saban, trying not to spend money. Thats not cool, if you want a great show. you have to put alot of effort into it. Not just put on a show. thats takes alot of time and effort.

        • Ok first of all its not on me because I am not one of the many Japanese who didn't watch or buy the toys we who live out of country do not count go busters is literally the worst according to compiled Ratings and toy sales data, and number two any production issues including the 20 episode chunks that's all on Nick

    • definately not a prank when its coming from a reputale News organization. Now posting it on a sat probably wasnt the smarted idea. maybe they should have held off for a few weeks untill the first few licensing expo are happening and all that.

  • Well if this is true, Very suprised that saban's skipping gobusters, considering kyoryuger was a huge success and go-busters wasn't since it was a failure with the target audience, the kids demographic.

A great move as the power rangers brand is very much the dino motif and makes sense.

Kyoryuger was great and was a very lighthearted fun show to watch that the parents can enjoy with their kids.

For kids in the west who watch Samurai/ Megaforce is good, but the shows really dont have much appeal to the older fans as the older shows were.

Hope Dino charge makes the show with older fans in mind now and hope BoA put more effort in making the toys just like the original sentai ones and improve on them and put the sounds in the show as the older fans who grew up with the franchise that have children and want to continue with the franchise and want to share their fun of power rangers with their children

Hope judd lynn and koichi sakamoto to return or similar doing power rangers and in a way make it like a wreck it ralph and the lego movie for example something the kids enjoy but the older fans understand, if that happens it would be the return of the power rangers and would help to keep the franchise going

Could very likely that Tommy would to be the silver ranger

Or maybe the blue ranger being a older person who big fan of power rangers just like the way akibared and gokai silver are in their sentai series.

    • i definately like to see sakamoto do more work with pr again and would be great if we could have lynn or any other former producer return and join producers ranks again. I would love to see tzcahor have less controlling say and be like the older days when he shared power with 2-4 other exc producers. Plus doing the dino season now would be nice if they do adapt that kyo/zyu/abaranger movie get adapted. So we can see a 3 way dino team up with DT, mmpr, and dino charge rangers together. Plus maybe doing that they can get some DT and MMPR ranger actors to return who couldnt or wasnt asked to return for Super megaforce.

      • kids may be the target audience but at the same time the older fans of the kids show are today's growing fanbase by contributing to the franchise success. they watch the show, buy the toys, go to conventions and so on which helps promote the power rangers brand further.

Previous power rangers shows before saban/nick ( saban era and some of the disney era. they made the show to please the kids demographic and at the same time having relatable characters, original fight scenes, and different producers like judd lynn, doug sloan and others who made power rangers more fun and lastlong that a older fan can relate to, meaning that they did make the power rangers series for for the target demographic the kids, but as well making the show that pleases older fans.

part of the reason Kyoryuger was successful was that it may have been a fun kids show, but showed that there was effort to produce a fun kid's show that had themes and characters that a kid, a parent and even an older fan can relate to which will make a parent and even an older fan be more willing to buy the toys for their kids and even for themselves as collectors.

For Power rangers being on for over 20 years now it needs to have appeal to generations of fans who are still watching the show as well as the target audience, the kids demographic.

        • Before Disney we were kids. Any sentai is a bit more mature that has nothing to do with kyuruger. In TV producers focus on the current demographic. However that doesn't mean they shouldn't have all you mentioned. I think they should have those things too. Kids are more sophisticated now in days and I do feel it could definitely get rid of the overly goody goody dialogue. Have the rangers make mistakes and learn from them kind of thing.

  • BUT I WANNA SEE A GO-BUSTER ADAPTATION! I WANNA I WANNA I WANNAAAA~oh they'd probably just mess it up.

  • I do hope we will still see go-busters adaption happen, and ya i get the whole thing its toy sales in japan and viewership where some of the worst in sentai history. But the whole tech/computer/spy angle is really suited for the western audience vs japan in my opinion.

Though if they did this skip and go-busters isnt used and it was done to be back to only being 1 year behind sentai. I would really like that. Which is this is the reason i really hope saban and/or nick who ever call it been since samurai on spliting a series over 2 years of 20 episodes will end. For me that format is really killing it for me waiting so long to see episodes. I still dont see why or the reasons nick wouldnt allow for a 32-40 episode series over 1 year format we had in the past. Now if we are doing this to get back to being closer in adaption time for sentai i REALLY hope we are ending the 2 seasons over 2 years format.

    • also another thing i like that it looks like we will have an original season plotline. Which re really havent had since samurai/tzachor return to power rangers. Hopefully we will see a very original season and like past series that diverged from sentai source. Also would be great to have some US new created villains while still using some of the dino season villains.
