The new Sailor Moon anime finally has an official release set for July 2014, as well as a staff list!
The series, originally rumored to be released this winter, will instead be released in July and simulcast worldwide on Nico Nico. It will be produced by Atsutoshi Umezawa (Digimon Data Squad, Mononoke [TV series]) and directed by Munehisa Sakai (One Piece, Suite Precure) with Yuji Kobayashi as the Series Script Supervisor. The opening and ending theme songs will be sung by the all-girl idol group Momoiro Clover Z.
In a press release today, producer Atsutoshi Umezawa commented:
“This Sailor Moon anime isn’t a remake, we use Mr. Takeuchi’s original work and make a completely new anime from scratch.
The staff has worked really hard on this new Sailor Moon anime, so we hope you’ll enjoy this show.”
Director Munehisa Sakai added:
“It had just started when I began working at Toei Animation, who would’ve thought it would become such a popular franchise? I never would’ve thought I’d work on it 20 years later. I remember being jealous of the Sailor Moon staff at that time, so I feel like this is fate. I won’t let you down.”

"Mr Takeuchi"? LOL
JULY?! Again?! I don't want to be a douche or a complainer, but this is pissing me off. It's not even so much the waiting; it's the constant announcing and THEN constant pushing back that's getting me. They said this EXACT SAME THING in 2012 for the 2013 Summer premiere, and look what happened. Now after making another public announcement of it's release in December-January, they go and do the same thing.
I get nothing's ever set and stone, but please, get your s*%t together before making all of these announcements. The fans will be upset. The staff needs to hold it down.
I definitely agree with you, Gabrielle. IMO, It's just a bad idea to announce a brand new anime of the series if they aren't ready to put it out yet.
