Toy Art Gallery in Los Angeles, CA is one of the premiere places for unique vinyl art toys and sculptures. Their goal is to bring its customers rare, high quality toys designed and created by talented artists. For such a quality driven toy store, it comes to no surprise Saban would choose Toy Art Gallery, or TAG, to host their 20th Anniversary art exhibit and pop-up shop.

 

The exhibition took place December 7th and 8th 2013, with its opening reception on Saturday, December 7th.

The exhibition featured 20 hand painted Ranger figures by artists such as Simone Legno of tokidoki, Shojono Tomo, Martin Tsu, and many others. These figures were similar to, if not the same as, the mold for the 31 inch “giant size” Power Rangers Megaforce action figure, which also lined TAG’s store front window.

A percentage of the proceeds from all the artwork sales was donated to the Challengers Boys & Girls Club. Furthermore, JAKKS Pacific, Inc, who also provided the 20 Ranger statues to the artists, donated toys as part of their contribution to the exhibition.

 Bandai also displayed products from their Power Rangers toy archives much to the happiness, envy, and glee of Power Rangers fans throughout the years. There were plenty of overheard nostalgic conversations that started with, “I have that toy!” or “Hey, I used to play with that!”

Though the Power Rangers toys were for display only, there were plenty of affordable official merchandise and apparel available for purchase to add to any fan’s closet or as a fun gift for the holidays.

While no official Power Rangers actor attended, most likely due to small gallery space and possible overcrowding issues, it wouldn’t be a Power Rangers tribute event without some incredible Power Rangers cosplayers of all ages making their appearance.

Speaking of talented cosplayers, toy enthusiast and cosplayer, VampyBitMe was in attendance at the opening reception. In November, kidrobot announced custom toy collaboration with Vampy and artist J★RYU available in kidrobot stores and online.
