Gaist Crusher; Capcom’s latest action video game franchise takes one part Saint Seiya and mixes it together with a dash of Skylanders. Capcom has united with Bandai to release a transforming toy line that will work in tandem with the game! Make the jump to find out more about Capcom’s newest IP.
Gaist Crusher will be released for Nintendo 3DS consoles and currently set for a release date of December 5th, 2013 in Japan. Capcom has stated that three key aspects of the game will be transforming, collecting, and armament.
The main protagonist is named Recca. Together, he and his companions  fight against mysterious metal lifeforms known as the Gaist to combat these creatures, Recca and his friends combine with the Gaist to form what is known as Gaist Gear. Gaist Gear comes in two different varieties: Mail Form, a balanced type and the more offensive Weapon Form. Each time a Gaist is defeated, they drop an item called Gai Metal or Gaipon, these items can be set to create the Gaist Gear to later be used in combat.
In addition to equipping the Gaist as armor, Recca and his allies will be able to transform into that very Gaist! Bandai will be representing this in plastic form with transforming figures of Recca and his companions. The first wave of these figures will have Recca himself whom turns into his wolf-like Gaist called Fenrir, Hayato and his bird Gaist Wind Garuda, and Kurama.
The second aspect of Gaist Crusher’s figure collecting aspect comes from Bandai’s toy line. A cover attachment will be released for the 3DS which will enable you attach Gaist figurines too, and these Gaist figurines will be able to transform and fold up into a Gai Metal mode. A cover attachment for the 3DS will be released which will enable you to attach the Gai Medal figurines onto. Much like Skylanders, this will unlock that Gaist for you to use in the game.
A set will be available which contains aforementioned the cover attachment, the game itself, and a Gai Metal for 5,990 yen. Thus far, the attachment was seen used on standard 3DS consoles, we’re still unsure if the attachment will work with XL model.
Along with the transforming figures, the Gai Metal figurines will be releasing in early November, to gear up for the release of the game itself and they’re very reasonably priced at about 950 yen each.
Thus far, everything about Gaist Crusher sounds pretty cool! Sadly, Capcom has yet to say if this game will get a localization. Keep those fingers crossed, here’s hoping that Capcom decides to bring it over for a western audience!

Well this will no doubt be getting an anime.
no xl for the cover no thanks, cool idea though
theres a picture of it on the 3dsLL aka the XL its just slightly different shaped, so confirmed?
Agreed if you look at the "regular" 3DS pictured one. http://henshinjustice.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/404215.jpg the fit is much more snug and looks different compared to the one shown in the "LL" picture http://henshinjustice.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/404218.jpg.
I have a strong suspicion that even if the game comes over here, we wont see the attachment. I used to follow the Megaman Battle Network and Star Force games Capcom made very closely from back in the day, but they never released the tie in products here except for a very minimalist first attempt, which failed spectacularly.
Due to Skylanders popularity its certainly possible that this could be fully localized here, but if there's one thing Capcom has taught its fans in recent years, its that you really shouldn't get your hopes up.
