Kamen Rider Wizard Episode 3 – The Good & the Bad

Apologies, apologies for taking so long with a review of episode 3. Things are a bit hectic at work and I’ve barely had a moments rest. If you haven’t read a The Good & the Bad before, check out the previous ones for episode 1 and episode 2. Episode 4 will be up as quick as possible!

Warning y’all, spoilers ahead…

Pro: I like this back and forth they have, I wonder if they’ll play them as a love interest. Nice that she’s not falling all over him.

Con: Shut up, Koyomi.

Pro: Usually it’s assumed that Riders fight in secret and the general population barely know of their existence, they seem to be really going the other direction with this series. No one seems to notice any of the fights or monsters running around throughout Tokyo, even when they’re clearly in public places and probably on CCTV. Not only is there a good police and government presence, but there’s television crews trying to get in on the action. It seems such an obvious feature to shows like this that it’s a mystery as to why it hasn’t had it before.

Pro: Shunpei is quick to accuse Haruto of messing with his new found powers, but this scene does give the impression that he could be; we just don’t know the character well enough yet. Shunpei, for a slapstick character, he’s got a backbone.

Con: Waste of a donut.

Pro: Phoenix is Shunpei but for the villains. The more you think of him like that, the more it makes sense.

Con: Woe as Me…

Pro: Making another ring to go in Gashapon machine~

Pro: Little more backstory without giving everything away and NOT making us wait for 30+ episodes for no reason. This is also a con because the other characters haven’t asked for these questions for the audience.

Pro: I like that Haruto is a bit of a dick.

Pro: I cringed for Shunpei here, even though it was totally obvious that his powers were going to stop during his big performance. You can definitely understand his despair and how the Phantoms can take advantage of it. Was unexpected that the presenter would be the human form!

Pro: There is nothing to dislike in this fight scene. Fighting style, form change, use of CG(which doesn’t look too bad), Haruto loosing at the start, the big battle within Shunpei to save his hope, everything is well done. Can they keep this up for the whole series?

Pro: “Call the television station, give them a cover story!” – I like where this is going. Attempting to not scare the masses about a monster invasion in their city, or possibly for their own ambitions..?

Pro: No messing around, we’re all friends here now. They’re officially a gang…

Con:…shut up, Koyomi.

The series has gone off with a strong start. I’m not entirely sold on the characters as yet, but they’re fairly solid. The action and direction is second to none and I’m not finding anything to dislike about the show so far, but this doesn’t mean the show is in any way perfect, it still has it’s faults.
