A couple of fans banded together to give us this darker take on where some of the Rangers ended up years after their service to Zordon. Hit the jump to check out the flick.
Synopsis:
It’s been 5 years since the last alien invasion, the Rangers have since split up and now live normal lives… Up until today. They each received a familiar call about unidentified beings set to strike earth in less then 48 hours.
While Jason, The Red Ranger, is on his way to the HQ, he discovers a few street thugs up to no good. He decides to get warmed up after his 5 year hiatus… however, nothing could prepare him for what’s heading his way.
_________
No Spandex, no tights. We wanted to create a fresh take on the Rangers universe, with a modernized look and feel. The audience that grew up watching MMPR are now watching films like The Avengers, Iron Man, Batman Begins, Dark Knight… While those films come from very different extremes (some comic films light, and others dark), we tried to find a middle ground between them. For an example, we weren’t going to kill any kids in this.
How could we ground MMPR with all their larger then life characters without making it dull? All the above in mind, we put together something that could with the very LIMITED resources we have.
If you guys enjoyed this, which ranger would you like to see next? Comment below, and don’t forget to subscribe!

no thank you
keep your dub step away from my PR. terrible music aside I feel like this was trying a lil bit too hard in some areas and not enough in others, the sound needed some work dialogue was hard to hear in spots and I dunno what was going on with the terminator/iron man shots but they weren't necessary. A valiant effort but I feel that great fan films have to come from a place of understanding the spirit of whatever they are adapting, this kinda how i imagine PR being done by Michael Bay (with less explosions) would be like.
But...I like dubstep :/
Aw... I like dubstep too~
I know muffin... You and Keith just see things a lil differently, but thats okay. buuuuuut even as far as dubstep goes that was pretty generic. I dunno, in my heart I feel like the only music suitable for Power Rangers is slightly watered down 80's hair metal... Thanks Ron Wasserman! lol
yeah, but only the good ones like skrillex or knife party, not the reproduced stuff they make now with big music stars for example dubstep in a pitbull song
Laughably stupid, dub step made it worse. It was trying to hard to be grimdark to care about the story
I wish the director could have given a little bit of thought into casting such an iconic ranger... Think back to what J.J. Abrams did with the crew of the Enterprise; really fresh takes on iconic characters that wasn't parody as much as it was evolution.
What we have here is a vaguely Italian American man with an over-sized v-neck. I didn't see Jason anywhere in this, and that's a shame. I mean, this is Jason, and this iteration of the character has been out of the game for a while and you don't think he would say "Back in action!" even once?Think of how much fun a modern take on the cast would be. Instead of focusing on action (and terrible action at that), what will really make these videos pop is character.
2/10, try harder.
I liked the dubstep! Lack of sound effects is what I felt really took away from most of it. The last flash of green though.. I like to imagine that was Tommy showing up. :D
A former competition oriented Martial Artist needs to Ranger Up to deal with random street thugs? That's the one glaring thing that stuck out to me. If he needs the suit for something that simple it's a major step down in his abilities. Though I do appreciate the take. It had two things that gave me hopes for Wild Force. Night shots, and characters soloing. Sadly that only lasted the first episode.
gay
Started out ok, but there wasn't any sound effects for the punches thrown, why would he need to transform to take on random thugs? looked like he was having problems with the morphing grid, the way it looked like he was forced to transform.
Not a fan.
Annnnnnd just abused the power and got it stripped away.
