Kamen Rider Fourze: Final Ratings, Go-Busters Ratings

The final episode of Kamen Rider Fourze has come and gone, as has another episode of Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters, probably the last one before any big changes. Numbers after the jump.

Kamen Rider Fourze episode 48, the final episode of the series aired yesterday and managed to score a 5.1% viewership rating. This rating saw no change from last week’s episode, making it the first time the ultimate and penultimate episodes have the same rating. And since the series has ended, we are now able to toss out series averages! For its series average, Kamen Rider Fourze has scored itself a 5.8% rating, making it the lowest rated Kamen Rider series ever. Now, you can probably take solace in the fact that the ratings in the key demographic of the kids audience didn’t change too much from previous years – there was a drop, no doubt about that, but it wasn’t astronomical. Here are the previous Rider shows in the Heisei era ranked by series average.

1. Kamen Rider Agito – 11.7%
2. Kamen Rider Kuuga – 9.7%
3. Kamen Rider Ryuki – 9.4%
4. Kamen Rider Faiz – 9.3%
5. Kamen Rider Hibiki – 8.2%
6. Kamen Rider Decade and W – 8.0%
7. Kamen Rider Blade – 7.9%
8. Kamen Rider Kabuto – 7.7%
9. Kamen Rider Den-O and OOO – 6.9%
10. Kamen Rider Kiva – 6.2%
11. Kamen Rider Fourze – 5.8%

Kamen Rider Wizard begins next week and we’ll be looking forward to see how its first episode does. Whether or not there’s going to be any huge upturn in numbers is probably not going to be clear for the first couple of weeks, unless there’s a huge spike right off the bat.

Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters Mission 27 dropped from last week’s 3.9% to a 3.3% rating. This makes six consecutive weeks that the show has scored below 4%, something no other Sentai has ever done. With the airing of this episode, the series continues to hold on to that 4.0% series average. Next week the show begins airing with a brand new opening – something no Sentai has ever done before – and it’s rumored that some major retooling is coming up in the way of the removal of a major series villain. It’ll be interesting to continue watching these attempts to save the show’s ratings and whether or not they do anything, thus far any minor changes haven’t amounted to much.

  • What is really needed for super sentai or any tokusatsu in general is them getting rid of the americanization. Lose every episode based on going out and kicking the baddies. If you look at earlier series of kamen rider like 555 for example they dealt with orphnocs when they showed up and dealt with issues of the creation of the belts and involved the main characters into a deeper plot than what has been seen since Kiva.
As for super sentai they need to go back to the roots focus more on the characters and plot not the mecha and beating on the baddies. For example Zyuranger had Burai who eventually died but had a major role in the story. Then in Shinkenger you had Shinken Red who wasn’t the real one making for a great plot twist.
To me it seems that they are seeing that americans and other countries are now watching their shows so they cater to them (as we see in go-busters with “its morphin time”). If americans and others wanted to see shows that are catered to them they would be watching Saban (which I believe ruins the shows take note on kamen rider black) or whoever remakes them for the region. I myself started watching the originals because they weren’t so childish but this year I skipped fourze and will continue to skip go-busters.

  • maybe 2012 really is the end of the world. the super sentai shows couldn't get any worse! Loved KRF, though.
