Japanese sci-fi drama SPEC to be remade in the U.S.

At the theater greeting event for the new movie SPEC ~Ten~ (SPEC ~Heaven~), which is a sequel to the Japanese sci-fi TV drama SPEC (more info at AsianMediaWiki), an American remake was announced.  This is the first time a  Japanese drama has recieved an American television series remake.  Japanese-American actor Masi Oka (of HEROES fame) said, “I’m a fan of SPEC.  I want to bring the vision of SPEC to the the rest of the world, so I’m working with a big Hollywood production company to bring it to the United States.  We’re currently fine-tuning the details.”  The cast and staff are slated to be announced at the beginning of May.
