In the 170th issue of Figure-Oh, the cast members of Fourze, Sota Fukushi and Shion Tsuchiya, voiced their opinions and thoughts about the Kamen Riders from the Showa era. They were asked about which one of the Showa Riders are their favorites, and Shion showed off his knowledge about Riderman.
F: I’ve heard that you’ve didn’t watch a lot of Kamen Rider as you grew up, but what about now?
S: While we were filming for “Kamen Rider × Kamen Rider Fourze & OOO: Movie War Mega Max“, Shion brought a bunch of Kamen Rider DVDs and we watched some together. While, Fourze is definitely the best out of all of them, I have to say that Shin (Shin Kamen Rider: Prologue) was simply amazing. Amazon (Kamen Rider Amazon) left a really strong impression on me too.
T: You can actually hear a tiny voice going “friend…” when all the Showa Riders line in Mega Max, so check it out when you buy the DVD.
F: Is it true that you like Riderman (Kamen Rider V3), Shion?
T: Yeah, I love him! My dad is 46, and he grew up with the Showa Riders. We used to watch some together, I thought Riderman was the absolute coolest when I first saw him.
S: Since you can see half of Riderman’s face, I was wondering, does he even transform?
T: Maybe it’s a cosplay. (Laughs) At the start, he used to work for Destron as a scientist. He was then betrayed, lost his arm in the process. He eventually starts fighting for justice with his Cassette Arms. The last part is amazing. When he stops the Pluton Rocket from hitting Tokyo, instead it explodes with him.
S: So he risked his life to save Earth.
T: Although, he didn’t really die. (Laughs) But the best part is when V3 tells him that he’s the fourth Kamen Rider. If I may speak for myself, you are a hero, if you feel that you are a hero at heart. It doesn’t matter if you’re just a regular person!
S: Oooooh, you’re sounding kind of cool there.
T: This is actually why I’m a bit bothered by my character, JK. He always runs away like a coward. Even though I’m doing my best playing JK, I feel like I’m just running away. I really hope there will be a episode where JK gets to shine.
F: Out of all the Showa Riders, which one is your absolute favorite?
T: Obviously, Riderman.
S: And I obviously disagree! (Laughs)
T: He’s the best! (Laughs)
S: Hmm… Amazon, maybe?
T: What about X (Kamen Rider X)?
S: Hmm, well I did cosplay Stronger (Kamen Rider Stronger) for the movie…
T: Stronger is really cool too. He’s basically the first Kamen Rider to recieve a form change, after he got the Super Electro Dynamo. There’s also Tackle in his show too, and she was cute.
S: I don’t really know who that is though. (laughs)
