A 26-year-old office worker from Toyohashi-city, Aichi, was arrested on the 11th January on suspicion of using Share file-sharing software to upload the 26th episode of the Gokaiger to the Internet.
The episode was second in the two part return of the Hurricanger trio aired back in 21st August of last year. The suspect has already pleaded guilty and he informed police he had been able to get the anime and other files for free since about four years ago, and wanted to share them with other people. The police found an additional 5,000 files (750GB) were supposedly ready to upload online on his PC. He was also arrested for suspicion of uploading obscene videos to the Internet, but what content is unknown. This is the first reported case of enforcing online piracy laws in 2012.

i think that its unfortunate that they arrested that guy just for uploading some gokaiger episodes.
I know that its copyrighted material but they could have at least taken the videos down or let him off with a warning, something. If that guy said that he was able to download the episodes for free then i don't think he should have gotten arrested for that. He probably didn't think that he did anything wrong. I mean as far as I know, he wasn't selling the episodes to make money off of them, he was just trying to expose people to super sentai from accross the globe. If they hane to try him, I just hope that they don't give him too harsh of a sentence/penalty.
People are told the rules if they continue to break them, on their head be it.
If he was arrested in japan, then he is guilty because the material is copyrighted, but if he was in another country that didn't have the series currently airing, and he got the episodes from a satelite connection tha allowed him to watch a Nihon channel in other country, then I don't think he would be guilty, because the Nihon has no jurrisdiction in that other country.
