HJU Presents…AUTOMAN

“On a scale of 1 to 10, think of me as… an 11.”

Walter Nebicher is a policeman by day and computer programmer on the side, although his immediate superior gives no respect as to his contribution to the force. To fix that, he creates a special program that creates Automan, an artificially intelligent computer construct that looks real, sounds reals and, given enough power, can have an actual physical presence outside the computer that feels real. Together, Walter and Automan along with Cursor, a small floating droid that can create any object Automan needs, battle the criminal elements of the city.

Airing on ABC back in 1983 and primarily made to capitalize on the mammoth success of the Disney movie, Tron, Automan only ran for a total of 13 episodes, but as some short lived series tend to do, garned a cult classic following over the years. The series was created by Glen A. Larson, best known for also creating the original Battlestar Galactica and Knight Rider.
