ACen 2008: Aaaalllll most theeeere……

Anime Central 2008 goes hot in about four days and counting. I’ll be getting there with Gaijinder/Kimiden/Mike Dent Thursday night and we’ll hit the ground snapping pictures, grabbing audio and doing interviews like we always do. This year is also The Year of the Ranger Fan. Heroes from the RangerBoard will be in attendance as well as Power Ranger Alumni! This should be quite the year. Keep an eye out for me and if you don’t know what I look like I’m sure you’ll find picture or two somewhere. 😉

Got my Garren Rouser packed, my morphers picked out, and my Nintendo DS strapped.

Here’s yet another encore of last years epic ACen video ho down. Click, enjoy, and I will see you guys in a little less than four days!

Lots of show notes, details, links and goodness found after the jump.

00:00 — Rejected: It’s possible you might be familiar with these shorts, and if your not, you check out the website here. And if you wanna watch ’em all, they’re easily found on YouTube.

00:31 — HJU Presents, Kamen Rider Gattack & Sasword Opening

00:45 — Anime Central 2007 Opening – Is there gaming at ACen?: This part of the video came about from when I invited some friends of mine to hit up Anime Central and have a good time. They fucking snapped. With proclamations of being gamers and not “anime fans”, they shouted on top of mountains that an anime convention would have nothing to offer them and that you’re probably not going going to find much gaming at an anime convention. I tried to tell them that ACen was about just geeking and about the shit tons of gaming that does infact happen within. Hell they even had tabletop analog gaming there, with the old school “dice” interface alongside the room with the gaming we’ve come to know and love with our fancy schmancy flat plasma screens, PS2’s, Wii’s and DS’s. But my voice was quickly drowned out by the cry of anime conventions being a gathering of hethens, whose lifestyle philsophy ran counter to all the beliefs that video gamers held dear. Thus this video was born with ample footage to spare.

02:12 — Anime Hell: Anime Hell is held around the beginning of the con each year. The big hall is booked, and the folk behind Anime Hell project all your favorite crackhead clips from the intertron such as that scene with the little girl you just saw, crazy G.I. Joe PSA’s, the fan favorite Heino, and something that I forgot to make sure made the final cut, Dr. Tran from Lone Sausage Production. Everyone MUST check out Dr. Tran!

02:43 — Anime Hell: Rejected

03:55 — Anime Hell: Kamen Rider Kabuto – Dark Kitchen, Cooking Justice: Kabuto fans know what this is. But for those that don’t, here’s the episode.

08:04 — Anime Hell: Rejected

08:23 — The Girls of Anime Central: “This is Why I’m Hot,” by MIMES: Not much more need be said than this is the #2, a close #2, reason why I come to Anime Central. The amount of babes at ACen truely leaves my jaw on the floor the entire time. It’s the reason I dropped the bucks on a new camera. JayDog and I felt it appropriate to give these women a proper send up. And if your wondering what the #1 reason is… it’s to hang with homies. ^__^\m/

10:28 — Keith gets all fanboy for Kari Walgren: ACen was the Con of Happy Endings(no, not like that….). Two DS’s were lost and by the time the end came… two DS’s were found. Also on the lost then found list is beloved hat and my $200 suit… both recovered. One other thing left dangling was my need to get my FLCL manga signed by Kari Walgren. Because panel scheduling for the guests can be best descrbied as “crazy-insane” I couldn’t find her for the signing…. until the last second before we left. I got her to sign my manga while being a giggling fanboy and a kid managed to get his underwear signed. Dreams really do come true.

11:59 — Gettin’ drunk & Playin’ more games… “Time for Drink Force!”: We got pretty goddanged foolish around here. It was late, but the party was still in full swing. Don’t worry, we carded at the door and all in this video drinking are of age. Alas, it breaks my heart that the truely epic game of Captain Commando that JayDog and I played was not caught and immortalized in digital video form. With a battle cry of, “I’M A BABY IN A ROBOT!!!!” from JayDog, my gut was left in such throbbing agony that it was amazing we managed to save the world from the manic grip of the vile Scumocide.

Other games of note that we rocked at The Freakin’ Suite were House of the Dead 2 on a Dreamcast stand that we didn’t get a good picture of and constant Guitar Hero, where you get to see briefly a man rock hard enough to beat the immortal Moe of Team Fremont fame!

15:13 — More SCIENCE!!!: This one goes out to the ladies for enduring all our oggling of you earlier in the video…. and for me and Jay who could not get over this guys’ mad buffitude.

15:40 — The Soap Bubble Rave… Get yer club on!: Saturday Night…. the gloves come off and the people get their rock on to dance the night away.

18:43 — Ninja vs. Rave: Ninjas complete a Rave like a belt completes and outfit.

19:36 — The Finale: See you next year!

21:13 — One more time… ^__^: T-Shirt coming soon…
